"Worn" by Tenth Avenue North

Another song that is speaking to me recently is "Worn" by Tenth Avenue North.

I've made mistakes
I've let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart that's frail and torn

I recommend watching the video where the lead singer Mike talks about this song at http://youtu.be/bGJS5MLgMZc

"Words" by Hawk Nelson

I want to share with you some new songs that I've been playing a lot.

The first new song is "Words" by Hawk Nelson. I like how it talks about the power of words. Every day, I have to remind myself that I want to use what I say to encourage and love, even when the other person is being unlikable (like a kid that misbehaves).

Words can build you up
Words can break you down
Start a fire in your heart or
Put it out

Let my words be life
Let my words be truth
I don't wanna say a word
Unless it points the world back to You

You can also watch Hawk Nelson tell the story behind the song at http://youtu.be/VsQiH5J0tjA

Chris August Inspiration

When we were brainstorming ideas for this year's Midwinter theme, we knew we wanted to focus on how we can bring Jesus into all aspects of our life. Joanne and I kept mentioning Chris August's current single, "Center of It" and it just stuck with us. It was amazing to hear him perform it live last Saturday!

Don't forget, the Early Registration Deadline is this Sunday, November 25th! You can find forms at church or click on the "In The Center" image to the right.

"You Are" by Colton Dixon

I do not watch American Idol, but when I heard this song on Air1 the other day by former contestant Colton Dizon, I wanted to listen to it over and over again. I was disappointed to learn that it isn't available to purchase yet, so instead, I found this video.

I love the chorus where he sings,

You are the song, You are the song I'm singing
You are the air, You are the air I'm breathing
You are the hope, You are the hope I needed

Give it a listen and I think you'll want to worship with the song as well.

Here's his other song I've had on repeat in my car:

One of my favorite songs this summer is Remedy Drive's new song, "Better Than Life."

You hold the stars in the sky
You hold the light in my eyes
Your love is better than life

"He Weeps"

Have you heard the song, "He Weeps" by Fireflight? It's my favorite song of the moment because it reminds me of how much God is for us. He knows what we're going through and will never leave our side. You can download it for free from Air1 Radio, at http://www.air1.com/music/free-songs.aspx until April 22nd!

Fireflight - He Weeps
From the album NOW

Where is God when the rain falls?
And takes the car off the road?
Is He standing in the storm?
Where is God when the child cries?
And no one bends to pick her up?
Could someone tell me what He does?
He weeps, He weeps with you
He weeps with me
When I'm on my knees
And I taste defeat
He weeps, He weeps

Where is God when she won't eat?
When her bones start to show?
Is He there when she's lost control?
Where is God when a father?
Turns his back on his son?
Can someone tell me what He does?

If today's your darkest day
And you can't escape the pain
Don't be afraid
He will never walk away

Light Up The Sky - The Afters

My last song I'm sharing is a new song by The Afters. It rounds out my summer playlist perfectly because I am constantly amazed and feel so blessed that I have a home, a family, and the opportunity to live my life for God. All I have to do is look up, any time of the day, and know that I am not alone. You can see what the band has to say about the song here.

It's been fun sharing some of my favorite songs of the summer and I hope you'll share some of yours, too!

Let it Roll - Superchic[k]

Superchick has been one of my favorite bands ever since I stumbled across their "Karaoke Superstars" album. I love these verses from this song because I am a worrier and I need to be reminded that God will always take care of me...

Worry never never
Added a day to my life ever
It just robs me of today and brings me down
So come what may whatever
The truth has set me free forever
And the burdens of my life, I lay them down

Song: Let It Roll

Rapture Ruckus - Hold on

It's been fun sharing some of my favorite new music with you this week! I will have a few more for you next week, but today's is a song I heard on Air1 and takes me back to the days I listened to hiphop. I like that there are artists who offer alternatives to "popular" music.

Fireflight - For Those Who Wait

At first, this song sounds like all their other songs, but it grew on me. I like the part where it says "When you're fighting to believe in a love that you can't see, just know there is a purpose for those who wait."

Artist: Fireflight
Song: "For Those Who Wait"

Chasen - Castaway

I'm going to continue to post new songs from my summer playlist with a song by a band called Chasen. I've had their first single from their lastest album, "That Was Then, This Is Now" on repeat for a long time, but I only recently bought the whole album. I like how this song,"Castaway" is about how we're given second chances. I surely need them. See Chasen talk about the song here.

You Are More - Tenth Avenue North - w/lyrics

Sometimes, I forget that being a Christian isn't about just doing the rights things, but what God has already done for us. I love this song because it reminds me that we are more than the choices and mistakes we make. You can see what the band has to say about this song here.

Something Holy by Stellar Kart (with lyrics)

I've been a fan of Stellar Kart since I bought their first cd, and even though I think their songs are very simple, they always seem to express their message... about God's love, about loving others... and how I can't help but sing along! I think my favorite song of theirs is still "Activate" from their second album.

Artist: Stellar Kart
Song: "Something Holy"
