30 Hour Famine

A reminder that the Friday and Saturday after next (April 26 and 27) is the 30 Hour Famine. 

You can visit the website (www.30hourfamine.org) for more information, and sign up for online fundraising at our church's page here. Remember, any amount is helpful; one dollar alone can feed a child for one day. 

The fasting will start after lunch on April 26. The actual church event will start at 6:00 PM and will end at 6:30 PM on April 27. Participants will need to bring a signed permission form as well as some juice to share (it's all we'll be consuming for 30 hours, so bring flavors that you'll actually drink). We'll also be sleeping over at church, so bring a sleeping bag and toiletries. Alas, the church has no shower facilities, so no need for bathrobes (unless, of course, bathrobes are a part of your everyday normal attire).

For parents: there will be a potluck to break the fast at 6:30 PM on April 27. If possible, please bring some food to share. 

If you can't come to the famine, please pray for the event. Remember, it's not about our own rumbling tummies for 30 hours (though of course pray that nothing unexpectedly horrific happens), but about the 925 million+ people who are going hungry every day.

30 Hour Famine

Only a few days till the 30 Hr. Famine!!! I'm getting even more excited for this weekend and can't wait to see how much more God will bless this time! But, there are a couple of things I wanted to remind people of.

First one is: don't forget to raise funds! So, you all saw that giant map of the world with hearts at church, right? That represents all of the money we've raised so far, and we're doing really great! That doesn't mean we stop though. Please keep sharing about what you're doing with family, friends, teachers, classmates, and keep asking for donations!

Also, if you plan to participate in the famine you first need to fill out a permission slip  (http://peninsulafmc.org/forms/30HF_Parent_Consent_Form.pdf) 

and get it signed by your parents! Don't forget to bring it to church and give it to one of the staff.

The event starts this Friday (April 29th), so please come to church at 6:00pm with your collection envelopes. We are sleeping at the church so bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, clothes and anything else you might need for one night. 

The famine begins at 12:30 on the same Friday, so: eat lunch on Friday. DON'T eat anything after lunch! Only fruit juice and water---NO Jamba Juice, milk, coffee, etc. Got it?
